Couples Therapy

A safe space to reflect, rejuvenate, and reconnect

Why Couples Therapy?

Being in a relationship can be exciting and wonderful! It can also bring up challenges and conflicts that may seem difficult to navigate. Couples therapy offers a safe space to communicate, understand each other, and resolve conflicts. I will help you and your partner/s build a stronger relationship by helping you address lingering or recurring issues, providing skills to navigate your relationship’s up and downs, and improving your communication, trust, and intimacy while being mindful of your different backgrounds, cultures, and personal narratives. Together, we will create a deeper and more fulfilling relationship.

  • The Gottman method helps couples improve by building love maps, increasing fondness and admiration, teaching the couple to turn towards each other instead of way, inviting positive perspective taking, managing conflict, encouraging couples to make their life dreams come true, and inviting the couple to create shared meaning in their life. Together, the couple improves their relationship through increased trust, commitment, and emotional intimacy.

  • Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) helps couples by focusing on identifying and addressing underlying emotions and unmet attachment needs within the relationship. The primary goal of EFT is to help couples create a more secure emotional connection by promoting openness, understanding, and empathy between partners.

Specialties

  • Premarital Counseling

Marriage significantly influences mental well-being, encompassing both positive and challenging aspects. While it fosters happiness, love, and support, it can also trigger stress, anxiety, and depression. Together, we will address conflicts, enhance communication, and nurture your bond, effectively charting a path toward a thriving and enduring relationship.

  • Interracial or Intercultural Issues

Interracial or intercultural relationships can be both exciting and challenging. The merging of two distinct backgrounds can bring a richness of experiences and perspectives, fostering personal growth and learning. However, cultural disparities in communication styles, values, and traditions can also lead to misunderstandings and conflicts. In therapy, we'll explore each partner's background's impact, aiming to embrace differences and strengthen the relationship for a more inclusive and harmonious partnership.

  • Life Transitions

Life transitions can significantly influence both relationships and mental well-being. Whether it involves starting a new job, relocating to a different city, entering parenthood, or confronting loss, these transitions can induce stress, doubt, and a myriad of emotions for individuals and couples alike. In couples therapy, we aim to delve into the psychological impact of life transitions and equip you with the necessary skills to not only adjust but flourish in the face of change.

  • Balancing Career & Family

Balancing a thriving career and family responsibilities can strain relationships and mental well-being, leading to heightened stress, communication breakdowns, and disconnection between partners.
